City of Reno organizes Ninth Street neighborhood cleanup event

Post Date:03/25/2014 10:35 AM
On Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, large dumpsters will be available at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows parking lot for the disposal of items such as exterior trash, weeds, dead vegetation, furniture, appliances, tires and other types of discarded household items.

Partner agencies include the Governor’s Office of Military and Veterans Policy, the City of Sparks, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB), Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Washoe County Health District, Interstate U-Stor, Reno Salvage, Ray’s Tires and Clean Harbors. From the City of Reno, staff will be assisting from the Reno Police Department, Code Enforcement and Parks departments.

Councilmember Oscar Delgado is encouraged by the collaboration of so many agencies to make this Ward Three event a success. “We are happy to provide the staff and resources so our residents can dump their trash for free and help to beautify their neighborhood and bring pride to the area,” he says.

Among other activities, volunteers and staff will be clearing trash from the highway overpasses, removing graffiti and trash from Teglia’s Paradise Park and assisting residents with trash disposal.

Participants must prove they live or own property in the neighborhood and are encouraged to bring a picture ID or utility bill. If residents need assistance with the transport of items, they need to call Reno Direct at 334-INFO to schedule a pick-up time. Once the eight trash dumpsters are full, the event will close, and no additional items can be dumped.
